How a TikTok One campaign runs: brief to whitelisted ad

A TikTok One campaign moves through five stages: brief, creator selection, production and delivery, rights and approval, and paid amplification. The platform keeps all five in one system, which is its actual advantage over running the same campaign across email threads and spreadsheets. Here is what each stage looks like in practice, from an official TikTok One Partner that runs campaigns inside it.
1. The brief decides everything downstream
A usable brief states the product, the audience, the single message the video must land, the hook directions worth trying, what must legally be said or avoided, and the deliverable spec. It does not script the video line by line: creators outperform scripts in their own voice, and over-scripted briefs are the most common cause of unusable content. The full brief anatomy is here.
2. Creator selection, in-platform
Inside TikTok One you filter creators by audience, vertical, and performance rather than guessing from public profiles, then send the brief and agree terms in the same system, which creates a paper trail both sides can rely on. Selection criteria worth using: prior conversion in the category, content style against your product, and audience fit. Follower count is the least useful field on the screen.
3. Production, delivery, revisions
Creators deliver in-platform, and revision requests happen there too. The practical discipline: one consolidated revision round with specific asks. Vague feedback ("make it pop more") burns creator goodwill and calendar days equally.
4. Rights and approval
Before anything runs as an ad, usage terms need to be explicit: how long, which placements, which markets. This is the stage brands skip and regret at scale, when a winning ad has to be pulled because the rights window lapsed.
5. The whitelisted ad is the point
Organic reach on a creator post is the audition. The business case is what happens after: the winning post runs as a Spark Ad from the creator's own handle, keeping the creator's social proof with paid budget behind it, or feeds a GMV Max catalog campaign if a Shop is attached. Campaigns that end at "the video posted" capture a fraction of the value.
